The Selection committee consists of the captains (or their vice captains) and the cricket chairman.Senior selection will be carried out on a Tuesday evening.
The previous weekend matches will be discussed, including individual performances.It is the responsibility of every member to ensure that their availability is known to the selection committee by one of the following methods.
Via team sheets before or after matches or by phoning team captains.If your availability is not notified as above it will be assumed that you are not available for selection.
The selection policy includes the following:
Saturday teams have priority for those players only available one day at the weekend.
1st XI takes precedence over 2nd XI and 2nd XI over 3rd XI and 3rd XI.
All teams to be picked on ability to maximise the strength and correct balance of the team.
Subject to the strength / ability of the players available.
Sunday 1st XI Cup and Chess Valley League and friendly teams will be selected in the best interest of the club.
These teams will be selected to, compete well (especially in the cups and Sunday league), give members not selected on Saturday an opportunity and provide cricket development for our younger player’s.
Members who have not paid their subscriptions (or are behind with their match fees) will not be considered for selection.
Players must play where selected.
Any player changing their availability after Tuesday’s selection meeting must personally talk to their team captain ASAP. Consistent offenders pulling out after making their availabilities known will be subject to the possibility of not being selected when next available.
In the event of a senior eleven being short of players on the lead up or on match days it self the higher XI has the right to request a player from a lower XI providing their match hasn’t started. A player should not be dropped more than one team except in special circumstances.
New players should not be considered for selection until a member of the selection committee has seen them at nets.It is the responsibility of the player to arrive at the meeting point in good time or inform the captain of alternative travel arrangements.
It is the player’s responsibility to establish whether or not a match has been called off due to weather.Players selected will be notified by text or e mail via the web site by Wednesday evening.Team sheets will be appear on the club web site.
