Rickmansworth v Harrow Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI on Sun 22 Aug 2010 at 1300
Harrow Cricket Club Won
Match report
Harrow's Sunday 2nd eleven won another of their Chess Valley fixtures playing away to Rickmansworth. Winning the toss skipper AP decided to bat first and Harrow could not have got off to a worse start by losing Shazad Shah to the first ball of the innings. Young opener Kamran Hussain, Vikash Seth and Chris Summersell all failed with the bat. Kamran bated sensibly but today was not his day and I'm sure big runs will come from him in the future. James Han in at 3 made 19 and things looked very bad for Harrow with the score on 60 for 5. In came youngster Hashim Hussain who joined Nirmal Ramgi at the crease and put on 50 odd for the 6th wicket. Nirmal and Hashim batted sensibly on a very slow track which had a terribly slow outfield. They took quick singles taking advantage of the fielding of the opposition team. Nirmal scored 15 and Hashim fell for a very well made 31 and top scored for Harrow. Skipper AP scored 21 but the much needed acceleration in run rate was provided by Akash Rawal who scored a quick fire 29 with 2 big sixes and a 4. Harrow ended the innings on 177 off their 45 overs.
Harrow put on a clinical display in the field with opener Johnathan Raveendran taking 2 for 21 and Akash Rawal bowling his 10 over’s for just the 23 runs. Both their figures would have been a lot tidier had it not been for the number of wides and no balls which they bowled. Hashim took 1 for 20 off his 5 over’s and Shyam Pattni bowled well and took 2 for 41 of his 7 overs. The star with the ball was skipper AP who took 4 for 24 off his 6.3 overs. Harrow bowled and fielded exceptionally well with veteran Shazad Shah getting a direct hit run-out having threw the ball whilst on his knees at cover. In conclusion a great win for Harrow especially considering that the main run scorers in Shazad and Vikash both failed this week. AP will skipper Harrow's friendly fixture against South Hampstead next week where he has promised bowlers and younger players to give them a chance to bat up the order.
