Match report Harrow took on table toppers Southgate on Saturday and after skipper Bhupal lost the toss for the fifth time in a row this league season, were asked to bat first in very helpful bowling conditions on a greenish damp pitch. The expected early movement materialised and both openers fell quickly to leave Harrow 12-2. Wickets fell regularly and it was thanks to a fine 49 from Darius D'Souza that Harrow were able to reach 158-5 in the 42nd over. From here a score of 200 should have been easily within reach. Instead there followed a startling collapse as the last 5 wickets fell for 10 runs inside 7 overs. David Mungrue with a composed 38 was the only one to offer any real resistance.

Michiel Vosloo (2-18) and Waqas Hussain (2-52) produced an excellent opening spell of bowling to reduce Southgate to 27-3. The pitch still had plenty left in it for the bowlers. The spinners then bowled a superb spell in tandem, picking up more wickets. Ajay Patdiwala continued his finr form with a stiffling spell of 12-4-24-1, and Tushaar Karia returned the remarkable figures of 14-8-13-2. At 100-8 Harrow sensed a great chance of victory. However the 10th wicket pair managed to bat out the last 15 overs on a pitch that had eased considerably to take Southgate to 127-8 and a draw. Harrow take 4 points for the winning draw.
