Richmond v Harrow Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 24 May 2008 at 1300
Harrow Cricket Club Lost
Harrow 1s failed to travel well for the second time this season as they went down at Richmond. Batting first Harrow lost their first wicket with only 8 runs on the board and with the second wicket going down with the score on 33 it looked like it could be a difficult afternoon. Wasim Aslam got his head down with a solid 63 as he tried to build the innings, but he just needed another batsman to stay with him so he could produce a match wining partnership. Darren Crook did his bit scoring 29 and with the score on 145 for 4 Harrow required to push on above 200. It wasn’t to be as they had to declare on 191 for 8 from 56 over’s in the hope that their bowlers could produce a match winning performance.
Richmond got off to a good start putting on 71 for the first wicket and with the score on 140 for 4 looked in a good position to win the match. Harrow tried to peg them back, but Richmond always had over’s in hand. The fielding was good with five catches taken, but with only two bowlers taking wickets (Dave Walker 3 for 28) & (Tushaar Karia 3 for 22) it was always going to be a struggle. Richmond reached 194 for 6 in the 38 over to take the 10 points.
