Harrow Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Shepherds Bush on Sat 21 Jun 2008 at 1300
Harrow Cricket Club Won
Match report
Harrow entertained Shepherds Bush in a clash of two in form teams. Harrow certainly looked forward to the clash so they could measure their progress this season against a good side. Shepherds Bush won the toss and decided to field. Harrow got off to a poor start with Aslam falling for 0 bowled Speer. T Karia was the next wicket to fall for 2 and with the score on 10 for 2 Harrow looked to be in a bit of trouble and when Vaghela was run out Speer for 8 it looked like some serious repair work was on the cards. This came from Dave Walker who produced a fine innings of 66 with Mendis (28) and A Karia (34) providing good support. The last wicket fell with the score on 175 from 45 over’s. Giving Harrow something to bowl out. It also gave Shepherds Bush a chance and perhaps over confidence on their part would help the Harrow cause.
Harrow’s response was outstanding as Crook & Modeste Harrow’s opening bowlers took control. Darren Crook bowled throughout the innings producing figures of 4 for 36 from 23 fantastic over’s including 8 maidens. Theo Modeste produced a better spell from his 18 over’s taking 5 for 36 as they ripped through the Shepherds Bush batting line up. The first wicket went down with the score on 7. Shepherds Bush then got a partnership going with the second wicket going down with the score on 40, but then two quick wickets fell as Bush moved onto 89 for 5 and from that point the pressure started to build with Harrow bowling 14 maidens. And with tight fielding from Harrow’s young guns Shepherds Bush fell behind the run rate as the last wicket went down with the score on 118 to give Harrow another 10 points. This moved Harrow into second place and nose bleed time. Harrow travel to Acton next week looking for another victory.
