Scorecard

Eastcote v Harrow Cricket Club U13A on Tue 16 May 2017 at 18:00
Harrow Cricket Club Won by 2 runs

Match report Harrow won the toss and elected to bat. Niam Bhattacharya and Nathan Fernandes got off to a cracking start. With the ball flying to every corner of the pitch Harrow were quickly 30 off 2 overs. However, in the third over, there was a misunderstanding in the middle and Nathan was unfortunately run out. Syan was next to the crease and continued his good batting form by scoring at a run a ball, allowing Harrow to maintain their impressive start.

Once Syan was dismissed Harrow seemed to lose their ability to rotate the strike which ultimately built pressure that led to Harrow losing a series of wickets, culminating in Niam trying to smash a ball over extra cover and getting out albeit for an impressive 52 off 47 balls.

Harrow suddenly looked like collapsing, however the free-flowing Dylan Rawal entered the frame and along with fellow U11 batsmen Rahul Panditha and Suleiman Malhi they steadied the ship and increased the run rate by aggressive running and rotating the strike.

Aided by some wayward bowling from the opposition Harrow moved from 104-7 to finish the innings on 140-8

With the batting finished, it was down to the bowlers to do their job. Opening bowling from Arjun Rajkumar and Suleiman Malhi was spectacular, restricting the batsmen to just three an over. However, from the 5th over onwards, we seemed to bowl poorly and field nervously. This seemed to demoralise the team which led to no encouragement in the field and a lack of motivation to win the game. In the 13th over Ekansh Mishra stepped up and took the vital wicket of their top batsmen who had scored 59. This seemed to galvanise Harrow and we started to bowl properly with Ekansh and Rahul Panditha bowling some well controlled line and length.

Harrow was now back in the game with Eastcote needing 37 off the last 5 overs. Nathan took his first wicket of the day and along with Arjun Rajkumar made sure the run rate stayed below the required rate. This was supported by Dylan Rawal who kept wicket expertly in the fading light. It was down to Ekansh to bowl the final over and he continued his form restricting Eastcote so that they needed 3 off the last ball and suddenly..Ekansh bowled out their batsman and Harrow had won the game.

Overall, some impressive bowling from Ekansh and Rahul, and a huge comeback in attitude and performance pushed us over the edge and got Harrow the important win in the game.
