Brentham v Harrow Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 09 May 2009 at 1300
Harrow Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Harrow somehow managed to lose their first Middlesex County Cricket League game of the season despite posting an imposing 275-6 off 51 overs. Put in to bat, Harrow got off to a good start with openers Aslam (44) and Hussain (38) putting on 62 for the first wicket in 14 overs. A partnership of 68 in quicktime between Quinlivan and Karia (29) gave the innings impetus, and despite a couple of quick wickets falling, a late onslaught saw 75 runs come off the final 8 overs, with Quinlivan & Bhupal taking full toll of the Brentham bowling. Some clean hitting saw Quinlivan race to a fine 85 not out as Harrow declared on 275-6 at the end of the 51st over.
Reducing Brentham to 73-3, the game looked to be in the bag for Harrow. But their followed an amazing passage of play where Budden (89) and Brahmbhatt (77) smashed some very poor bowling to all parts of the ground with 102 runs coming off the next 11 overs as the Harrow spinners leaked runs and Brentham were right back in the game. Harrow fought back with late wickets including the superb run out of Brahmbhatt by Luke Quinlivan, and were indebted to some tight bowling from Tushar Karia who bowled 19 overs, taking 2-68. But it was too little too late, as Brentham sneaked home by 2 wickets with 3 overs to spare.
