Twickenham v Harrow Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 27 Jun 2009 at 1300
Match was Drawn
Match report
Harrow were indebted to a battling unbroken 8th wicket partnership of 70 between captain Suk Bhupal (36*) and eighteen year old allrounder Farrukh Chodhry (29*) that enabled them to salvage a draw from a game in which they were always playing catch up from the moment they loss the toss. Twickenham's James Munting with 104 not out anchored their innings on a hot day in fine batting conditions. Partnerships of 62 with Paul (42) and 76 with captain JP Cronje (36) enabled Twickenham to post an imposing 271-9 off 51 overs. Although Harrow took regular wickets, Twickenham kept up a lively run rate, and apart from Darren Crook's 4-77, the Harrow bowlers found the going tough.
In reply, the Harrow run chase never got going as they were reduced to 25-4 by man of the match Munting who removed the first four batsmen with a fine display of left arm swing bowling. Despite a 50 run partnership between Darren Crook (22) and Pritesh Vaghela (27), Harrow found themselves in serious trouble at 95-7, and with over 20 overs still left to bat, they looked to be heading towards inevitable defeat. But the unbroken 70 run partnership ensured that Harrow salvaged a point and remain 7th in the league table.
