North Middlesex v Harrow Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 02 May 2009 at 1330
Harrow Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Harrow lost by 17 runs in a game that they looked to have under control until the last 15 overs of the game.Winning the toss, North Middx reached a comfortable 126-1 before the spinners got Harrow back into the game. Avi Karia bowled a fine spell of 14 overs, taking 2-59, and was ably backed up by Eranga Mendis (2-55), and the leg spin of Hassan Mohammed (2-19). Losing their next 6 wickets for only 63 runs, North Middx finished on 205-7 from their 48 overs.
In reply, Harrow got off to a good start with Waqas Hussein continuing his fine form with a very quick 45. With Dave Walker finding some early season and putting on a 50 partnership with captain Suk Bhupal, Harrow looked comfortable at 147-4 with 18 overs remaining to reach the winning score of 206. However, on a wearing pitch offering increasing assistance for the spinners there followed a calamitous collapse, with three batsmen (Vaghela, Mendis & Shah) all dismissed for golden ducks. With Avinash Karia also falling for 0, Harrow subsided to 153-8. Despite a ninth wicket partnership of 30 with Hassan Mohammed, Dave Walker was left high and dry on 87 not out, deprived of a well deserved hundred as he failed to receive the support his fine innings deserved, and Harrow were bowled out 17 runs short with six overs still left to bat.
