Thank you for your patience whilst the club has remained closed to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. You may be aware that the Government has just issued updated guidance on public spaces, outdoor activity, and exercise. The ECB has reviewed this and published its own guidance to cricket clubs on 15th May.
The ECB has unequivocally reminded clubs that all recreational cricket remains suspended until further notice. Both the Government and the ECB have indicated that outdoor facilities can be used for the purposes of exercise but only if this can be done safely and by meeting several onerous conditions. These include:
A booking system for use of the outdoor facilities
- Strict sanitation processes both inside and outside the Club
- A club representative on site at all times the outdoor facilities are open, to monitor bookings, enforce strict usage limits & social distancing protocols
- No changing, pavilion, or bar facilities
- A dedicated one way system around the Club to facilitate social distancing
The Executive Committee met by video-conference today to carefully consider the Government guidelines, 11-page ECB guidance, the safety of our members, and the safety of our volunteers who help to run the club. Taking all of this into account, the Club has taken the decision to remain closed for the time being.
The wellbeing of our members and volunteers, and all their families, remains our primary focus at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation for opportunities to facilitate participation in cricket once it is safe and practical to do so.
We hope that you continue to remain safe.
The Executive Committee
