Match report Harrow CC won the toss and chose to field on a warm Wednesday afternoon. Harrow’s opening bowlers restricted Bessborough to 14-2 in the first 4 overs. Reven Weerackody steamed in, putting the batsmen under constant pressure and was unlucky not to take a wicket. He was backed up well, by captain Akhil Thadi, who took 2 wickets for 10 runs. If Bessborough thought life would have been easier, when the pair were taken off, they were wrong. As Musa Syed Ali, bowled a consistent line and length, not giving the batsmen any chances to score runs and came out with the best figures of the day 3 wickets for 2 runs. Harrow CC showed great team spirit and talent on the field as no bowlers went for over 6 runs an over. But the most pleasing aspect of the first innings, was the fielding from the boys; 4 catches, 2 run outs (an amazing direct hit by Anesh Chopada) and everyone backed up each other. Aneesh Chopada and Paaras Shah finished off Bessborough taking a wicket each, as they ran in hard, to bowl the last two batsmen.

After a 5 minute break and a discussion from the coach about who was batting in what position. The main objective was to run hard between the wickets and get singles consistently to keep the score board ticking. As it was the first game this was hard to come by. Bessborough did bowl well, to keep them within a chance of winning the game. But Kyle Patel battled through tough conditions and scored 12 runs with 2 key boundaries to keep Harrow up with the run rate. Ali Hayder-Hussain came in at number 3 and was slightly nervous at the start. But after scoring a few runs, he settled down and hit the ball hard, over the fielders to top score with 15. Although, Harrow CC only needed 12 runs off 3 overs, Harrow’s batsmen tensed up and 3 quick run outs caused the game to go to the last over needing 5 runs. Musa Syed Ali showed great responsibility and composure in the last over hitting 5 runs off 5 balls. Family and friends of both teams enjoyed a close game with some coaching influence from Bessborough’s camp. Harrow CC appreciates family and friends support, as it helps the team push on, to do the best they can.
