Harrow Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v John Fisher on Sun 13 Jun 2010 at 1300
Harrow Cricket Club Won
Match report
Harrow continued their impressive form in the cup competitions with a resounding 56 run win at home to John Fisher in the third round of the Cricket Conference Cup on Sunday. Once again it was another 200 run opening partnership between Dave Walker and Waqas Hussain that ensured Harrow piled up an imposing 282-6 off their 45 over’s. Against a good pace attack, both openers put on a spectacle of attacking stroke play as the bowling was dispatched to all parts of the ground.
Walker (100) has now scored a century in every round of the Conference Cup this season, and for Hussain (104) it was his second hundred of the competition.
In reply, John Fisher got off to a very good start bringing up their 100 in the 15th over. But once the fielding restrictions were lifted Harrow decided to bowl their spinners in an attempt to prize out wickets and reduce the scoring rate. The tactic worked as the John Fisher batsmen started to hole out. The pick of the bowlers was Graeme Overy who took 5-42 off his 9 over’s, with good back up from Avi Karia (1-31) and Tushaar Karia (2-24). Eventually John Fisher were bowled out for 226 in the 42nd over as Harrow ran out winners by
56 runs. It is the first time that Harrow has reached the quarter final stage of a major cup competition since the 1990's.
